A browser with WebGPU
Desktop Chrome or Edge 113+ is the safe choice. Android needs Chrome 121+ on Android 12 or newer, iPhone needs Safari 26. Firefox and Linux are the usual failures.

Yes — you can play Skate 3 in a browser right now. Check your device, learn the controls and find your first line: free, no install, no account.

01 / Before you play
Most skate browser games are 2D toys. The Skate 3 web browser port is a different thing: a full console skating model that runs on WebGPU, which older browsers simply do not expose. Two of these three checks are one-time settings, and they decide whether the game starts at all.
Desktop Chrome or Edge 113+ is the safe choice. Android needs Chrome 121+ on Android 12 or newer, iPhone needs Safari 26. Firefox and Linux are the usual failures.
Chrome → Settings → System → "Use graphics acceleration when available". With it switched off, WebGPU is disabled and the Skate 3 web browser build cannot start at all.
The engine and one world are a few hundred megabytes. Keep the tab open while the counter moves; closing it starts the download over.
| Device | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop Chrome / Edge 113+ | ✅ Best | The reference setup. Turn hardware acceleration on |
| Android 12+ with Chrome 121+ | ✅ Good | Touch controls and Lite Mode; 8 GB RAM recommended |
| iPhone with Safari 26 | ✅ Good | WebGPU shipped in Safari 26; use a small park first |
| Firefox 141+ (Windows) | ⚠️ Partial | Support is narrower than Chromium |
| Linux desktop | ❌ Usually not | WebGPU is not enabled by default |
| School-managed Chromebook | ❌ Usually not | Graphics acceleration is often turned off, which disables WebGPU |
02 / Getting started
The whole first Skate 3 browser session in five steps, in the order that avoids the usual dead ends.
Desktop Chrome or Edge 113 or newer is the safest choice. On Android you need Chrome 121+ and Android 12 or newer.
The engine plus one world is a few hundred megabytes. Keep the tab open while the counter moves; later visits load from cache.
Skate School loads fastest and is the best place to get used to the controls before you try the city maps.
Keyboard works out of the box. A gamepad plays better because the right stick becomes FlickIt, exactly as on the console.
Keys scroll the page until the canvas has focus. If the screen stays black, check that hardware acceleration is enabled in your browser settings.
03 / Input
Keyboard and gamepad inputs for the Skate 3 browser build. Nothing to configure before you start — a pad is just worth plugging in.
Full keybinds, trackpad mode and per-pad mapping are on the controls guide.
04 / Trick playbook
FlickIt inputs read bottom-to-top: pull down, then flick. Learn these six and you can skate a whole line in Skate 3 browser without touching the trick guide again.
↓ then ↑
Load the tail, then snap forward. Every line starts here.
↑ then ↓
Weight on the nose, pop backward off the front trucks.
↓ then ↖ or ←
Pop off the tail and flick diagonally so the board rolls on its axis.
↓ then ↗ or →
The mirror of a kickflip: same pop, kicked outward with the heel.
Ollie + hold the stick over the rail
Land both trucks on the rail and keep the stick balanced.
Hold ↓ gently
Feather the stick back to ride two wheels and link two plazas.
05 / Troubleshooting
When the Skate 3 browser page will not start, it is almost always one of these three. Work down the list.
Chrome or Edge → Settings → System; with it off, WebGPU is disabled and nothing starts.
Chrome and Edge 113+ on desktop, Chrome 121+ on Android 12+, Safari 26 on iPhone.
A few hundred megabytes stream before the first frame — a black screen with a moving counter is not a crash.
Black screen with sound, or keys that scroll the page instead of the skater? The step-by-step version, including the focus fix, is on the not-loading guide.
06 / Devices
Yes, with two caveats.
Partly. Android needs Chrome 121+ on Android 12 or newer, and iPhone needs Safari 26, because that is where WebGPU lands on mobile. The Skate 3 browser build is heavy on mobile data, so use Wi-Fi, switch on Lite Mode and start at Skate School rather than a city map.
Touch controls, memory limits and the school-Chromebook case are on the mobile guide.
07 / Port Carverton
The Skate 3 browser port loads Port Carverton one world at a time. Start small: each new map is another download, and the big ones take far longer than the practice park.
A compact practice park with beginner ledges, banks and flat rails. The right first session.
Location // 01Marble ledges, long stair sets, fountain gaps and the big downhill transitions.
Location // 02Traffic, planter benches, high-drop stairs and handrails. Heaviest map to load.

The Skate 3 browser questions that come up most: cost, devices, controllers, loading and multiplayer.
Yes. The browser port costs nothing and there is no install: you open a page and press play. You do need a browser that supports WebGPU, which means a recent Chrome or Edge on desktop, or Chrome 121+ on Android 12+.
It depends on the build you land on. The Skate 3 browser port is designed around a copy you convert yourself, and some public pages instead stream a converted data pack, so you can just press play. If you want the strictly local route, you convert your own disc and nothing leaves your computer.
Partly. You need Chrome 121 or newer on Android 12+, or Safari 26 on iPhone. There are touch controls and a Lite graphics mode, and small parks load far more reliably than the big city maps. Expect a long first load on mobile data.
Usually not, and it is not about the game: school-managed laptops often have graphics acceleration switched off, which disables WebGPU entirely, the first load is around 270 MB, and filters commonly block the site. A personal laptop or a phone on your own data is the realistic option.
Check these in order: hardware acceleration is on in Chrome settings, your browser actually supports WebGPU, the first load was allowed to finish, and the tab has focus. If the page loads but the skater ignores you, click once inside the game area.
The Skate 3 browser port streams a few hundred megabytes before your first frame, so the first visit can take several minutes on a normal connection. Repeat visits load from cache, and switching to a new map downloads that map once.
Yes. Any gamepad your browser recognises works, and an Xbox-style pad feels closest to the console because the right stick maps to FlickIt. Press a button after the game loads so the browser picks the pad up.
Partly. Some builds support multiplayer — the clean-room web build has rooms for up to ten skaters, so Skate 3 online play is real there. The public port keeps a console-style online menu, but we could not verify a working session, so treat Skate 3 online as a bonus rather than the reason to open the page.
